Keana Shahin is a PhD Candidate in Epidemiology & One Health in the Department of Population Medicine at the University of Guelph. Her doctoral research examines the risk of importing exotic mosquitoes and their pathogens into Canada under various climate scenarios. In particular, she is interested in Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus, as these mosquitoes are the vectors for Zika, Dengue, Chikungunya, and Yellow Fever virus.
Keana’s work employs methods such as mathematical compartmental modeling, risk assessments, scoping reviews, and dashboard development.
